Italian Beauty Film Series – Italian Women through Italian Cinema
The Italian Beauty Film Series is off to a great start with the feature presentation of “Roma Citta’ Aperta” – (Open City) a neorealist masterpiece by Roberto Rossellini. On January 25th sixty people squeezed up at the Italian Community Center and a sign on the door reading “Sorry, this event is sold out, please come again!” were the tangible signs of an undoubted great success.
Clarissa Clo’, Director of the Italian Language and Literature Program at SDSU, gave a brief introduction and delivered a skillful and passionate Q&A session at the end of the movie.
No wonder the series has made the San Diego Magazine’s A List for the month of February which reads: “Italian Women Through Italian Cinema: As if great food and great wine weren’t reason enough to spend a Friday evening in Little Italy, the Italian Community Center offers one more great opportunity to enjoy the best of Italy during its Italian Beauty film series.”
